This is my TLT rock crawler. I just got a new body for it and installed some wheel wideners, so once its done I'll post updated pictures.

Looks nice!

Have you thought about dying the rims?
I apologize for the filth upon my beloved TNX. Forgive me

Thanks guys. Not too happy about the paint job. I put the silver down and then the red, which is backwards of what I should of done. In any case, whats done is done. Its didn't turn out too bad and it will work.

Yeah, the thought has crossed my mind, but it seems like the dye never holds. Let me put it this way, I have never seen a good dyed rim.

looks good to me. I have been thinking about making a crawler/trail truck. Just not sure where to start.

Well, it comes down to how much money you want to spend.

The route I took is the cheapest possible.

I took a TLT and stretched it out. Of course TLTs are discontinued, so you can look to see if your LHS still has one or check e-bay.

Another option is a Clod or TXT. Obviously they are bigger, but they make great runners and crawlers once stretched out.

The hard core crawlers can easily spend close to $1000 to get all the bells and whisles.

Its not a TAMIYA, but the HPI Wheelie King 4wd would make a good buget crawler. Its already got about 6 inches of suspension travel. Just lengthen the suspension links and the driveshafts, and you'll have a decent crawler that has about 10 inches of travel. No other drastic mods like a custom chassis.

What makes it ideal is that the car itself is cheap, and is cheap to upgrade and maintain. It only has one servo and one motor. Of course, you can always mod it to run 4WS.

BTW, nice crawler McFig. :rock
